This week, I’ve noticed critical elements of time come up in nearly every patient visit—and not in the abstract sense. People are frustrated that their nighttime gummies wear off too soon, while others are searching for something that acts quickly, like a mid-day vacation that doesn’t hijack the rest of the day. These conversations reminded me just how misunderstood cannabis timing really is. So here are my thoughts on what I call the arc of time in cannabis care.

TL;DR

  • Healing doesn’t follow a stopwatch—some effects are instant, others unfold over weeks or months.

  • Cannabis can bring rapid relief, but its long-term benefits are often overlooked—and misunderstood.

  • Think of cannabis like exercise, nutrition, or sleep: subtle, cumulative, and transformative over time.

  • Most people (and even many doctors) don’t know how to recognize the long-term effects of cannabis.

  • Real stories from patients show us: when used consistently and thoughtfully, cannabis changes lives.
